November 2006 - National Records Week at Coniston
Records week got off to a bad start with two days of windy weather resulting in none of the circuit boats getting out onto the run. By Wednesday things had improved sufficiently for the sportsboats to get a few runs, but conditions still weren't great. Thursday and Friday were absolutely ideal and most records were established on those days.

Overall, LPRC had a successful week although young Joe Owen in his T850 would not agree as, for the second year he was foiled by engine problems.

Junior driver Ben Morse broke the 40mph hurdle that had elluded him in 2005, raising his own junior J250 record to 40.19mph although this was later broken by Windemere's Nick Walsh. Ben also went on to establish two new British records in different classes which both earned him K7 silver stars; T250 - 41.17mph and JT250 42.30mph.

Steve Fitzsimmons established a new British S2000 record reaching 115.82 mph only to be denied the International record by a technicality.

LPRC's star performance came from Malc Goodman who to everyone's delight achieved 100.56mph in his O:250 hydroplane. Malcolm and mechanic father Geoff have been attempting to break the 100mph barrier for the last 3 years and had only marginally missed it in 2005. On his first run Malcolm once again failed to achieve an average of 100mph by only a fraction but less than 20 minutes later he did it. Malcolm immediately celebrated by leaping into the air from his boat into the icy-cold lake.

Both senior drivers were extremely proud to be inducted into the K7 club and were awarded K7 gold stars for for their acheivements of breaking records at speeds of over 100mph.

The K7 club, founded in memory of Donald Campbell (K7 being the call sign of his record breaking boat Bluebird) also invited Adrian Morse to become a member in recognition of his involvement in records week during his own racing career as well as son Ben's.
